If We Had a Nickle for Every Time….
We hear this all the time.
“I never knew there was so much to see and do here!”
“There’s more to see than we have time for, we’ll have to come back.”
Call it a best-kept secret. Or a pleasant surprise.
Either way, you will most likely get more than you bargained for with a trip to Spearfish and the Black Hills. From Spearfish you are connected to no fewer than five national parks and monuments, all within a 2-hour drive. And those drives include national scenic byways, not stoplights and traffic jams.
One thing about South Dakotans, we know how to carve faces into mountains. We’ve got five (that we know about). Four famous ones on Mt. Rushmore and the world’s largest one at Crazy Horse, and that one they’re still blasting away at. We have it all. From gold mines visible from outer space to ghost towns that are nearly invisible. We have fly fishing and four-wheeling. Famous dinosaurs and drug stores. Ride an authentic steam train. Or take a steam bath in a natural hot spring. Climb on rocks above ground or below ground.
But don’t try to do it all in a day, please. We want your to enjoy your stay and plan on coming back.
